P erhaps it has something to do with the need to impress. You want to knock her silly with a fabulous dinner that comes with an ambience that screams romance. Just too bad you are not culinary inclined. If that's the case, I suggest you stick to the usual and much safer plan of bringing her out. Here's some places that are offering something special for you and your beloved on Valentine's Day. Orchard Cafe Orchard Hotel, 442 Orchard Road, Tel: +65 6739 6554 Feast on a spread of delicious seafood like chilled lobsters, drunken prawns and live oysters at Orchard Cafe and you'll be sure to receive more hugs from your dearest. With such a scrumptious offering, who can say no? What's more, there are tantalizing desserts like the honey Croquembouche, and also some heart-shaped cookies to melt your darling's heart and a tempting chocolate fountain. Try also, the Cupid, their special Valentine's Day Cocktail only available during this occasion. Dinner is available on 13 and 14 of February, 6:30 to 10:30pm at $88 per couple, and $45 per person. ![]() Miss Clarity Cafe 5 Purvis Street #01-04, Tel: +65 6339-4803 Those flowers you bought for her might probably have cost you a bomb and your wallet might probably be much lighter. No worries, here's a fabulous place that offers quality food at a reasonable price, with no compromises - oh, we kid you not. For just $58.80 per couple, you'll get an appetizer, a soup, your choice of main course and a sweet dessert. The meal would start off with cream of salmon with garlic crostini & baby greens, followed by some tasty pesto minestrone. Choose from an oven baked snapper crusted with wild rice puffs, cassoulet of black eyed pea & balsamic buerre noissette or a roasted capon with potato confit & pomnery mustard cream as your main course. Finally, to end the evening on a feisty note, they have some vanilla caramelized honey pineapple with rose & raspberry sorbet & orange chilli crunch. Available for dinner on 14 February. Wine is available at $10 more. ![]() Mozzaic 36 Club Street #01-01, Tel: +65 6325 3360 Enchant your loved one with a sensuous Valentine's Day menu prepared by the chef and created with much originality and flair. Come savour their Salmon and Pear Cream Cheese Mille-Feuille with Sauce Vin Rouge, Ravioli of Beetroot, Prawn and Ricotta Cheese fragranced with Sage, Lamb and Lemon Cream Stew with Homemade Truffle Pasta and not forgetting White Chocolate Mousse with Blueberry Compote and Passion Fruit Coulis. The set menu comes with home made minestrone and coffee tea and costs $128+++ per couple. Available on 14 February and you'll get a complimentary stalk of rose. Via Veneto #01-06 Clarke Quay 3E River Valley Road, Tel: +65 6334-1983 Spare no expense and wow your sweetheart so with a fantastic set menu that includes some of the best wine like the Brunello di Montalcino La Fiorita 1999. Be prepared to catch your date's jaws as they drop at the sight of the scrumptious spread Via Veneto has to offer; pair that up with a romantic ambience with that glowing candle light and she's all yours. Decide between the clear duck consomme or prawn star salad for starters. As for the mains, you have a choice between grilled tenderloin in green pepper and wild mushrooms brown sauce and the grilled lobster with champagne sauce. Dessert comes in the form of a quaint nougat parfait with strawberry coulis. This special set menu is also available at Lotus Grill (3D River Valley Road #01-04, Clarke QuayShophouse Row, Tel: 6336 7993) and costs $234+++ per couple. |
