Brochette of seared scallops on a salad of cannellini beans at Le Vela

Life is too short to eat bad food and drink bad wine!

A
re you looking for classic Italian meals with a modern presentation? Tired of soggy spaghetti and pizzas topped with octopus and mangos? Then you need to check out La Vela @Keppel, whose philosophy is simple; purity of origin. Here the dishes are lovingly prepared using authentic ingredients and lots of fresh herbs, which I learned they import daily.

La Vela means "The Sail" and you can feel that as you dine in this romantic and tranquil restaurant with a beautiful terrazzo overlooking the harbour. If you prefer indoor dining, their very elegant dining room boasts a setting unlike any other.

But enough with the ambiance... what's the food like you ask? You can't go wrong with their signature dishes like Timballo di Tonno (timbale of fresh tuna with grilled zucchini) or the Tagliata di Manzo con Insalata di Rucola (thinly sliced Porterhouse steak seasoned with virgin oil, rosemary and topped with Arugula salad), if you're a fan of flavour, it's simply out of this world!

The Italians love their desserts and La Vela offers a superb choice of desserts. You must try the semi-freddo alla Mandorle con salsa di Cioccolato fondente (almond parfait with rich dark chocolate sauce).

Besides their extensive A-la Carte menu, they have an executive set lunch from Monday to Saturday, a great value for money at $28.00++ for a 3-course meal plus a complimentary service of coffee and tea. The wine list serves a good selection of Italian wines and Australian and the list is regularly enhanced. La Vela is also an excellent venue for small to medium size functions or events, intimate pre or post wedding celebrations and product launches.
