To celebrate King’s Day each year, the Dutch deck out in orange and turn the city streets of Amsterdam into a street party, festival and market all rolled into one. It’s an experience not to be missed- and this year, KLM and Heineken partnered up to bring 10 lucky winners right into the mix.


The competition began right on Amsterdam Avenue in New York City, where KLM and Heineken set up a mini replica of King’s Day. They pulled in random passers-by from the street, who had no idea they were in the running for the ultimate Orange experience. These people answered a series of dance-related questions, and those who answered correctly were asked to meet at JFK airport on April 25.


The secret mission continued, and these 10 lucky American winners were ushered onto a plane headed for Amsterdam to experience King’s Day firsthand! A whole program of activities awaited them on arrival. They went straight from the plane onto an orange bus, which took them to the Heineken Brewery to get the party started. Then, they got to experience the magic of Amsterdam through a canal boat ride. The party really started when DJ Armin van Buuren joined for a surprise private performance on board.


The rest of the weekend continued in orange style, as these lucky winners got to experience King’s Day with the Dutch. It was an ultimate Orange experience they would never forget.
