Why he Won: Boy can this guy cook! It probably runs in the genes, seeing that his dad was one of the top chinese chefs in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in the 60’s. Sam holds a very important position – as a Director of Kitchens of the Tung Lok Group of restaurants here, he decides the food that patrons get to savour. His ingenious creations which fuses both Asian and Western ingredients has gain him a following. He was even voted ‘Asian Ethnic Chef of The Year’ at the World Gourmet Summit Awards in 2001, 2002 and 2004. He is now also one of Singapore Airlines’ International Culinary Panel of world-renowned chefs. He also appears as a guest chef at premier culinary events.

Bet You Didn’t Know: He wowed the people at the Wolfgang-Lazaroff American Wine & Food Festival in Los Angeles with his scrumptious coffee ribs. What an interesting combination! He also has his own cook book, ‘A Wok Through Time’.
